A much looked forward to game at NPL with Barnes Common was at the last moment changed to an away game as Barnes Common refused to travel to Teddington.
The pitch was very soft from all the rain the night before so having won the toss, Daisy decided to field first in a 35 over game.
Barnes Common got off to a flyer scoring rapidly at both ends; a change of bowling was needed and Naresh and Genie quietened things down a little. Naresh bowled 7.0.32 and Genie 7.2.30 (no information on wickets).
The Godfather, Smartie and Assassin bowled five overs each with the Godfather and Smartie picking up a wicket each, while and the Assassin bagged two. Barnes Common scored 204 runs from their 35 overs.
Following a delightful tea Tuffers and Smartie began the run chase, although there was not a lot of running as Tuffers was weighed down with the enormous tea he had eaten (not to mention the sandwiches and pork pies stuffed in his pockets) and Smartie customarily deals mainly in boundaries.
The wickets began to fall regularly with some stability provided by Naresh who went on to score 68 before being caught.
Good contributions were made by Smartie and Assassin with both scoring a brisk 36 each while Daisy, who now only accumulates his runs in singles, was not out on 14.
The Nomads fell 14 runs short off their 35 overs.
Man of the match was undoubtedly Naresh for his fine bowling performance and a magnificent contribution with the bat.
Ed: if you're wondering about the accompanying photography, this was the only picture known to have been taken of the game. If you look carefully, you can just about see some cricket going on in the top left. Great stuff girls! And as ever, fantastic support.
